About this deal

The guilt of not being able to save everyone messes with Eason, all the what ifs that run through your mind in the aftermath of a tragedy weigh heavily on him.

It’s a heavy book that gets lighter as it goes on, and I loved the uplifting, heartfelt vibes towards the end. As a single dad with nowhere to turn, Eason moves in with Bree despite the old tensions and the new grief they share. its as if its only included because of the lack of overall tension and the story needed some sort of opposition. As a reader you can’t help but feel for them both, ESPECIALLY Eason who not only looses his partner, he looses his home, all while suddenly being thrown into being the sole care taker of an infant. While it may not feature trucks, trains, or prison, or even really getting drunk, “Mama” is at the heart of the story. There was no bullshit Double standarts showing an miserable heroine with an abused husband and an happy hero. This story also has an edge of mystery to it, and also cute kids, so if you like all that stuff then you may like this book. It is a wonderful story, with twist and turns I didnt always guess and people you can fall in love with, but with real human faults/ traits. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

El estilo de escritura es adictivo, amigable de leer y la historia hace que sea imposible dejar el libro del lado. Their relationship is complicated, Bree doesn't like Eason, she doesn't consider him enough for her best friend. No idea how he got out of the fire, who they buried, I was just so annoyed at this point that the skimming wasn’t really skimming it was ✨✨skipping ✨✨.As they take hurting steps towards some kind of normalcy, Aly pours salt on their wounds and the howl that left Bree and Eason tears up the sky.

So, I was wondering if I should keep reading or not, but then I remembered the high average rating and kept reading, waiting for the captivating pick up. I'm so sad to be raring this as low as I am -- but this is not at all what I come to expect when I see Aly Martinez's name stamped on a book.Ela vai nos surpreender a cada capítulo, nos fazer rir, chorar e torcer por essa família como nenhuma outra. I hate DNFING books, so I really honestly did try to power through this but I just couldn’t really do it in the end. He was unhappy but trying to be the best father and husband and she was pretty happy even though their spouses were awful people, until they died there were no clues about their sordid shit. Well I guess it's official, Aly Martinez is now firmly in my mental "hit-or-miss" author file folder.

not only was the mini-twist really well done, but the whole "dress thing" really put a whole new meaning on BFFs swapping clothes. There is also a twist towards the end where Rob is not actually dead and he kidnaps Easton's daughter. Yet as they both start to heal, and romance flickers to life, secrets from the past threaten to ignite. While she does ALL the complaining, she refuses to get a job and or help with the finances that come with raising their daughter. Left with the only thing that matters to him now, he stumbles to his feet and helps Bree who's limping with grief herself.Tragedy strikes when there is a house fire and Bree's husband and Eason's wife, who were also their best friends, die. After all, you can’t fathom how anyone else could adequately understand the misery you’re going through. Now, Bree and Eason must cope with the sudden loss of their spouses while still taking care of their young children.
