The book cover has no visible wear, and the dust jacket (if applicable) is included for hard covers. The only romance featuring middle-aged people that I’ve ever loved was The Bridges of Madison County and that was helped along by Clint Eastwood being the romantic interest in the film! She’s never afraid to dance or sing in front of strangers, even if she doesn’t know the words or have the right moves, and she loves to host family and friends, which means she always wanted the house in perfect shape. For better or worse, that’s come back to bite me when I overpromise or stretch myself too thin among friends, work, and responsibilities at home. And I agree about women in high-profile jobs who seem to be constantly distracted by romance, especially once they are out of their early 20s.

This suspense in this story is more of a gradual unfolding, but it firmly holds the reader's attention, and things get a lot more complicated before they get simpler. When the conversation turned to me, I usually told him about something I was reading or a fun fact about geography. Followed it up with another one which stuck to the plot and got on with it at a good pace, and what a difference! There are so many passages that are a comfort, and I’ve already bought another copy as a gift for someone else. I’ve never met another Chasten, but when I was younger, my name was just another thing that made me stick out.I must admit it’s becoming a pet peeve of mine that every professional woman seems ready to mess up her career and reputation by falling for a client/patient/ boss/colleague etc. Chasten Buttigieg is a transformative political spouse, just as his husband was a transformative candidate. When she used to yell our names, it was often so loud and insistent, you’d think there was a serious emergency: a large object about to fall and crush her or a pet-related tragedy. The right to build the plot carefully with generous detail and keeps you guessing right up until the end. Back home, Dad tried his best to stay awake at the dinner table while talking to my brothers about football or hockey.

Rows over land and property aren't uncommon, and I felt the plot was believable and the characters all had their own reasons for behaving the way they did (apart from one, who was just a pure weapon). Well written and plotted with believable characters and showcasing how family dynamics can create toxic results. I think Dad saw something unique in me, something that set me apart from my brothers, and he knew I needed a different kind of guidance from what he offered them. Anxiety over confrontation, the other person’s reaction, potentinally losing them and yet it is so necessary for healing. The machine would scan a piece of paper (such as an invoice), and the phone line would carry that scanned image in the form of code to the other person’s fax machine.I knew if I acted the way he did when handling a little earthworm, I wouldn’t have heard the end of it. In a very mom way, she decorated our kitchen with those wall hangings that stated things like IT IS AROUND THIS TABLE WE UNDERSTAND BEST THE WARMTH OF BEING TOGETHER, and there is always a nice-smelling candle burning in the house. I started to learn that our relationship with money depended on how we prioritized it as a family and how quickly or slowly we spent it. When we finally got back to the cabin and began gutting it for dinner, there, lodged deep in the fish’s throat, was Dad’s favorite lure. He had high, unspoken expectations of me, but most people know him for his gentle spirit, generosity, and love of surprises and scares. Unflinchingly honest and at the same time comforting, this memoir is an honest portrayal of finding not only acceptance in the world, but also accepting one’s self. Hearing her son screaming bloody murder, my mom came rushing in, at which point my dad opened the door and took off his wolf mask.
