When I worked at Hermès, Eau des Merveilles was suchan explosion of joyfor me. As a result, if I, and only I, had decided on the fragrance to be released, our fragrance could have resulted in something similar to Eau des Merveilles. Which I don'twant. Ganymede Extrait borrowed the DNA of the original: to the same ingredients, we added just two more, frankincense and myrrh, and you can feel them already at the start. Theoriginal Ganymede greets you with the coolness and minerality of mandarin and akigalawood, while the Extrait has the warmth of resins and, of course,immortelle, whichhas become its main heart note. Created by perfumer Quentin Bisch, Ganymede makes use of the suede-leathery notes that had made B683 a beautiful classic. For Ganymede, the perfumer takes us towards a more luminous and fluid elegance. The leather notes are softer, lighter and gentler. The opening of Italian mandarin brings vivacity and evocative freshness, but also gentility with the contrasting and chic violet notes and Chinese osmanthus. The immortelle flower, yet opposing, raises the scented harmony with its double-sided notes of minerals and saltiness. The entire composition plays with contrasts and oppositions. IGOR: (applying the fragrance on a tester strip) Ganymede Extrait smells close to the original. I expected the fragrance to be "darker," in the style of B683 Extrait, but it is light,just slightly more elaborate, richer in detail in the middle, falling in the graypart of the spectrum.As forcreatinga universe around eachnewlaunch, I think that'simportanttoo.
