About this deal

We abide by the Editors’ Code of Practice and are committed to upholding the highest standards of journalism. She formed her own television production company, La Plante Productions, in 1994 and as La Plante Productions she wrote and produced the sequel to Widows, the equally gutsy She's Out (ITV, 1995). Getting used to the change in command in CID it has not stopped her ambition to become a detective and when she gets the chance to work undercover to try to stop the spate of attacks on women she doesn’t think twice even if it could put her in danger. With a well-publicized career and many awards to boot, it is obvious that Lynda La Plante is a force to be reckoned with, and may just find her way onto our televisions in one way or another over the next few years. Not only will readers be thrilled and amazed by her experiences and … …achievements, but future generations will learn so much.

Lynda La Plante was made an honorary fellow of the British Film Institute and was given the BAFTA Dennis Potter Award in 2000. She was awarded a CBE in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honours List (for services to Literature, Drama and to Charity), and was presented with the prestigious TV Spielfilm Award for her television adaptation of her novel Above Suspicion at the International Film and Television Festival Conference in Cologne. From the year 1979 until the year 1996, she was married to Richard La Plante (who is a musician); the marriage ended with the couple getting divorced, after they were married for seventeen years.

Lynda La Plante, a highly acclaimed figure in the field, boasts an impressive array of achievements throughout her career. Where we land in Book 3 is a 1970s London where the peace is threatened by the IRA bombing campaign. In 2009, La Plante’s exceptional talent and impact on the crime-thriller genre led to her induction into the Crime-Thriller Awards Hall of Fame. Never afraid to question what she sees and hears, there are times that you wonder if her attitude will be more of a hindrance than a help to her career. In contrast to La Plante’s breakout Prime Suspect books, police procedurals that took an unflinching look at sexism directed against female officers, this series kickoff offers mostly soap opera. As with the previous books in the series, the 1970s setting is convincingly portrayed; as part of this, the reader is given an insight into some very dodgy 70s policing. After this turning point in her life, Lynda signed her first book-deal with Pan MacMillan, who helped her publish her very first novel, The Legacy, in 1987. The story is so well written, the characters became very familiar and once I began reading, it was very difficult to stop, the tension building as the case was building.
