About this deal

Women and men of Sali's age know all (or at least most of this stuff), and young men and women simply don't seek advice from a book of this nature. However, this was a very enjoyable read, I like Sali's style and all her Pool Columns, some of which are repeated here. eelkõige kõnetas mind see seletus, et kuna ta on oma sõpruskonnas lihtsalt see inimene, kes alati kõike praktilist teab/oskab ja kõigi olmeprobleemid ära lahendab, siis miks mitte kogu see tarkus kirja panna.

Her comments giving direction on "how to grieve" are incredibly trite and extremely offensive to those of us who have actually experienced grief. While not absolutely everything applies (as is rarely the case to everyone) I found it fascinating and there are loads of tips to pass on. Those who enjoy Sali's writing are no doubt of an age where they have learned 99% of what is included in this book already.Sali Hughes offers striking good sense home; food and drink, fashion; health and beauty; life and finances; friends, relationships and family. Sali covers a wide range of categories, this is everything you need to know to get through life from Sali's experiences. I bought this book thinking I’d dip in and out of it occasionally, but once I started reading it I got so absorbed I read it cover to cover over a few days. Most of it was about things I didn’t need to know about due to me being old and past the need for a mortgage, abortion, or debt advice for example .

I was particularly irritated by her views on childbirth- that you move on from the horror of it because, um, baby- which is carelessly and casually dismissive of birth trauma and CPTSD.Beauty and Health are lumped together which is a disappointment considering beauty is where she made her name, and the health tips are GP tips way beyond her pay grade - how to cure cystitis, treat anxiety or do a breast check. I think if you're a fan of Sali Hughes than it makes sense to read as it's her chatting away and giving you advice. Not only is it a quick reference guide that can be dipped in and out of, but it's a cosy and comforting read that you can curl up with after a long day. Although it sometimes felt a bit jumbled, the advice is split in to helpful categories and the index helps too. It's a shame because there are some great, sensitively written sections ( eg, how to talk to someone who is going through IVF) but most of it is super specific (eg, how to get a dentist's appointment through the NHS.

Listened to this as an Audiobook over past month and have loved all the pearls of wisdom it contains .I really enjoy Sali Hughes' writing, so I feel a little conflicted about giving a middling review of Everything Is Washable. I did enjoy the personal stories that were shared, such as finding out about her childhood, her father's hoarding and personal life, but these were far and few between. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! Fashion is a subjective section, I think if you like Sali's style posts on IG you may enjoy this chapter.

They felt like serious manuals from a person who knew more about the thing they were sharing than you did. I can relate to some of her stories she openly shares within the book and she talks with such reassuring confidence.

Hughes is a beauty journalist and that is her area of expertise and from looking at photos of her online she appears to be far too young to have accumulated the gravitas and benefit of years of experience to advise on such serious matters as are contained in this book. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. The content could have been so easily contained in a short pamphlet - Wear sunscreen, don't be a slave to fashion and this is how you cook pasta. Hughes' weighing in on the over-saturated 'organise your life by tidying' market also fell a little flat for me; although her family background does leave her eminently qualified to comment, it wasn't saying anything particularly new. The Friends and Relationships chapter was interesting because if you follow Sali you might know bits of her personal life so I'm sure some of the advice is based on personal experience.
