About this deal

Paul encourages his spiritual brother Philemon to receive Onesimus with Christian love and brotherhood, not bitterness. Suited for personal reading, public worship, in-depth study, and Scripture memorization, the ESV is available in more than 200 print editions on Crossway. The ESV represents a new level of excellence in Bible translations—combining unquestionable accuracy in translation with a beautiful style of expression. In Paul’s second letter to Timothy, he reiterates the charge to stay the course, encouraging Timothy to preach the Word and to “be ready in season and out of season” (4:2), especially considering the rise of unsound doctrine.

Pictured here are the lilies, rose of Sharon, precious dove, wine grapes, and pomegranates used in the poetry of Solomon to describe two lovers and their physical relationship throughout courtship, engagement, and marriage. Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland is a Charitable Company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales under Company No. The practice of illumination—adding decoration to book manuscripts—dates back to the early fifth century. The ESV Illuminated Bible, Art Journaling Edition places the full ESV text alongside over 500 elegantly hand-lettered gold ink illustrations by renowned artist Dana Tanamachi. The Illustration on each cover symbolizes something within that book, sometimes highlighting a passage or two and sometimes highlighting a major theme of the book. Illustrations by Dana Tanamachi, whose work has been featured by Google, The Wall Street Journal , Random House, USPS, and Target. The hyssop plant flowers, spear, thorns, nails, and palm branches reveal the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry. We’ve all seen pictures or videos of books from the dark ages that have ornate drawings, and stylized artistic renderings of plant vines, leaves, fruits, and other various things on the covers, spines, page edges, and on the pages themselves.

The novelty of having all of the art inside, and on the cover is nice, and many people will enjoy this embellishment. The practice of illumination (or adding decoration to manuscripts) dates back to the early fifth century and continued into the Middle Ages, when scribes, monks, and other artists used richly colored pigments as well as gold and silver leaf to add decoration, initials, and illustration to the pages of books and Bibles. The included illustration index provides helpful insight as to where the artist drew inspiration for the artwork.

Since its publication in 2001, the ESV Bible has gained wide acceptance and is used by church leaders, numerous denominations and organizations, and millions of individuals around the world. The text appears to be line matched but with this thick of paper, it’s extremely hard to see anything more than a page or two deep to confirm that. She has been commissioned by clients such as Google, Target, Nike, Starbucks, USPS, and the Library of Congress.

In chapter 5 of his letter to early Christians, Peter exhorts the leaders of the church to be careful to shepherd the flock of God without becoming conceited with power, instead leading gently and by example. Dana Tanamachi is an American lettering artist, graphic designer, and illustrator whose exquisite typographic murals ignited the worldwide chalk-lettering trend. If you know which book you want to read from and work in, the individual books would be easier to carry with you than the ESV Illuminated Bible Art Journaling Edition.Under Dana’s direction, a small team of expert lettering artists incorporated these styles into the verse illustrations in the margins and in thoughtful ornamentation throughout the text. Printed on thick, cream-colored paper, the Bible’s single-column text setting and wide margins provide generous space for additional notes, prayers, and designs—inviting readers to creatively engage with and reflect on the beauty of God’s Word. The outer box slides upward and it great for protecting the books while moving or storing them but I’m not always sure where to put it while I’m using the set. The text is laid out the same (just with a few gold highlights) and the pages are even numbered the same until you reach a full-page illustration. Throughout this book’s events, God makes it evident that he is in control and has ultimate authority over time, people, and events.
