About this deal

I very much enjoy it myself, smells like the woods in England after a rainfall and you just grabbed a piece of wood off the damp ground. Lalique already had a masterpiece with Encre Noir, but EC Extreme let’s you in on a secret - you CAN mess with perfection. I have even gave my Tshirt a 10 spray blast just to make sure it wasn't me and again as if like magic after a couple of hrs virtually nothing.

But that's not all: additionally there is some Elemi which creates a super smooth gradient from coniferous freshness into the citrus freshness while also adding a resinous/balsamic undertone, combining all three elements into a new unique fresh scent. Most reviews have described this fragrance as a dark scent, I would change that to more of a airy, woody scent with strong cypress characteristics. It does come off as 'thicker' and 'darker' though, so a bit less versatile and more difficult to wear than Encre Noir (and indeed Encre Noir Sport). Hence if you've experienced that afer release, and you know it could last longer and project more, don't bother. First sniff this reminded me of bently for men intense, but smelling them side by side, while in the very broad ballpark of scent family, they smell entirely different and my scent memory was deceiving me.

The scent trajectory provides for an interesting journey, it is definitely not a mass appeal fragrance and to be honest I cannot think of many occasions where I would go out wearing Encre Noire a l'Extreme, I think this is a scent that I will enjoy wearing for myself at home. Encre Noire a l'Extreme - heavier, resinous take on the OG, less original and, according to my taste, it's not so likeable. I've always taken personal offense when people compared Encre Noir to my beloved Sycomore, as if somebody was insulting my own boyfriend. But I don’t think I realized it was marketed as masculine perfume (does it mean that I’m gender-blind when it comes to perfumes? I'll start by saying that I'm a big fan of the original EN, it's one of my all-time favorites and I've been wearing it for years.

I’m glad you did a review for these perfumes: there was so much hype about EN at some point – and now I never hear about it. PM me if you live in NYC and want this and a full bottle of Kouros (also disgusting) for like ten bucks. I blind bought this, a bit nervously, after reading so many mixed reviews and having a decent sized collections with little Vetiver experience.

Elem ENCRE NOIRE À L’EXTRÊME reinvents masculine sensuality with its powerful cypress and vetyver accord. A trio composed of bergamot, cypress and elemi opens the bouquet as spicy and fresh before a masculine accord of vetiver asserts itself. The Lalique fragrances have a unique signature that combines creativity in its bottle design with a quest for exceptional quality within its fragrances. The fragrance is taken from genuine retail products and is entirely independent of the original manufacturing brand.I’m always reticent if something is targeted at men because the traditional masculine style isn’t my style The good thing about niche/indie and even the boutique collections of the big brands, is that they are not divided by gender. Lalique's Encre Noire A L'Extreme ("To the extreme") is both aptly named and understated at the same time.

The original Lalique Encre Noire was one of the most avant-garde fragrances of its time, nobody had created something like that before. The masterfully rustic Encre Noire is reimagined with a sensual, creamy, velvety touch as an EDP concentration that softens the original dank yet stays true to its mysterious essence. With the extra depth in this formulation, it just seems a lot more noticeable (and for longer) - the sharpness of the original can also make it easy to go noseblind to it.

The smell is high quality and complex, dark masculin and mysterieuse, but there is something funky about it, like rotten fruit. You find some fine Pine trees, Fir trees and also some Birch trees nearby and start chopping them up with both your Chainsaw and your Axe. Lalique Encre Noire A L’Extreme is a captivating, powerful fragrance of cypress, incense and sandalwood.
