About this deal

We're not huge fans of companies advertising these refresh rates as "overclocking," as it's usually a way for them to avoid fixing units that can't quite hit the advertised 160Hz refresh rate. But if you favor gaming performance, you’re not losing much by switching to 8-bit colors to get the 160Hz refresh rate. The monitor consistently delivers a 4ms response time experience at all refresh rates tested, and even as we move down to 100Hz, the level of overshoot is minimal. This where IPS is starting to show its age, especially against modern technologies such as OLED screens and VA panels, although those come with their own drawbacks.

The static contrast ratio is limited to just 1000:1, as it always has been for IPS, and our testing does show some glow in the corners (see the blue glow in image below). You also can't change the overdrive setting, which is strange, but luckily defaults to the optimal Fast mode. The stand is a bit different compared to other LG UltraGear monitors, so only the tips of the V-shaped stand make contact with the table. The Samsung has a higher refresh rate, but its response time isn't as good as the LG's because it has more overshoot causing inverse ghosting, as well as slow dark transitions that can result in dark smearing behind fast-moving objects. Keep track of every move and let LG’s professional equipment leave a lasting impression behind your back.Pixel responsiveness is the best aspect of the LG 34GN850 thanks to its refresh rate and a particularly effective overdrive feature. The display has very thin bezels, so they aren’t noticeable when the screen is showing all the action. Today I powered it, fully expecting it to be plain bad compared to the lg (which, new, costs almost double the millenium) but now I'm questioning my own eyes. As you unpack the LG 34GN850, you’ll realize that most of your money is going to the panel and its performance.

Admittedly, it isn’t the most elegant look from behind with cables sticking straight out, but the vast majority of users place the backs of their monitors towards walls anyway. The Gigabyte is better for productivity, as it has a few extra office features built-in, including a keyboard video and mouse switch (KVM), which allows you to switch between two sources with one set of input devices. The 34GP950G is a native G-SYNC monitor, whereas the 34GN850-B supports FreeSync, so if you want to get the most out of your graphics card, it might be better to get the one that matches your card. Featuring a typical display brightness of 400 cd/m², the monitor delivers vibrant and bright images. Monitors, based on their segment again, usually reduce that by being quicker about that, so those same objects appear clearer in motion.

The backlight is rated at 350 cd/m2 with a 440 cd/m2 peak, while the contrast ratio is listed at 1000:1, unlike other Nano IPS models. The LG 34GN850 doesn’t have any issues when it comes to accessibility for its OSD since it offers two ways to manipulate its OSD. It has a 1440p resolution on a 34 inch screen, delivering an immersive gaming experience as well as plenty of screen real estate for productivity tasks. If you want the best gaming performance, the Dell Alienware AW3423DW is a better choice than the LG 34GN850-B.

Gray uniformity is excellent, gradient handling is superb, and it has excellent coverage of the Adobe RGB color space. The 950F was a bit of an outlier for power consumption at this size, resolution and refresh rate; the 34GN850 pulls itself back into the pack with nearly 30% lower power usage at the same level of brightness. High-performance monitors are one of his fixations and he believes that it’s every citizen’s right to enjoy one. And especially after coming from OLED, IPS will look "flat" because if their low native contrast even though they might be able to keep up in terms of color gamut. The better your problem and question is described, the easier it is for other LG owners to provide you with a good answer. It has a wider gamut than the sRGB (mainly in the cyan-green range of colors) and is widely used in professional printing. The storage temperature shows the range from a minimum to a maximum temperature, within which storing of the display is considered to be safe. This display is 1ms faster than the 34GK950F, or about 20% faster, when comparing maximum refresh rates.

You get a much clearer image than other 21:9 monitors on the market as a result, and the bump up to a 160Hz refresh rate is a nice bonus. so it’s safe to say that you can benefit from calibrating the monitor if your usage requires this, but if you’re just gaming and don’t need the better color accuracy, you won’t be missing out on much running the monitor on its default settings. It's bright enough for moderately-lit rooms, but it may struggle to overcome glare in very bright rooms.
