About this deal

In the aftermath of 9/11, a failed Brighton businessman sees an opportunity to shed his debts, disappear, and reinvent himself in another country. Peter James is a British best selling writer of fictional crime novels. He has written 25 novels that have been translated into over 35 languages. His series featuring Detective Superintendent Roy Grace have sold over 14 million copies world wide. He has had six UK Sunday Times #1 books consecutively due to this series. Peter James was born on August 22, 1948 in Brighton, Sussex, England. His mother Cornelia James was the Queen’s Glovemaker.

I can’t not mention the fact that there are developments in the story of Sandy; Roy’s first wife who has been missing for 10 years and is now presumed dead with Roy now happily remarried to Cleo and the proud father of baby Noah. I can’t help feeling a little niggle of disappointment about how this was left at the end of this book and that little niggle is all to do with Roy’s behaviour.Opening: Logan was driving fast in the pelting rain, hurrying home, glad that her shitty day which had gone from bad to worse, and then progressively worse still, was nearly at an end. James became a successful producer of 26 films. The first movie he produced was 1971’s The Corpse Grinders. In addition to Corpse Grinders, Peter James has also produced such movies as Under Milk Wood, Dead of Night, Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things, Spanish Fly, Jericho Mansions, Head in the Clouds, and The Bridge of San Luis Rey. He was the executive producer of 2004’s take on Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is brought on to the case and grows suspicious when the one friend who wasn’t out celebrating refuses to collaborate on the case. All of a sudden, a motive surfaces, and Michael’s near accident may not be so accidental after all. In Looking Good Dead, published in 2006, Tom Bryce finds an apparently lost cd and decides to try to return it to its owner. But when his mission to return the cd leads to him witnessing a ghastly homicide, his family is threatened if he decides to go to the police. Meanwhile, Roy Grace is still haunted by his missing wife. It’s been nearly ten years since she disappeared. I keep reading this series because of the continuing links with his former wife, his relationship with Cleo and with his friend Glen Branson, now promoted to Inspector. The story lines have some similarity which does sometimes distract from the series. Overall there is sufficient for me to say three to four stars on the Goodreads scale.I have done nothing but think about this book ever since I finished it some two weeks ago. I have had a change of heart about Roy Grace, I now believe that the behaviour he exhibited was motivated by a desire to protect his wife, who was then in an emotionally fragile state. In his place, I am not sure I would have done anything different. I have upgraded my rating to 3 1/2 stars. For years, Harry and Freya dreamed of finding a valuable hidden treasure at a car boot sale. They didn't think it likely, of course, but they could hope. DS Grace will set off on a trail that leads him from the shady antiques scene in Brighton to Europe and New York as he pursues the killer. At first, to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and his team, these two events seem totally unconnected. But then another young woman in Brighton goes missing - and yet another body from the past surfaces.

Logan is on her way home after a miserable day at work. All she wants is to get home, have a glass of wine and smoke a cigarette out on her balcony. As she drives into her condo’s garage, however, she sees out of the corner of her eye a man lurking, and his presence scares her enough to call her fiancé, Jamie. Just as she begins telling Jamie about the man, she screams and the phone goes dead. To add in even more creepiness, at just about the same time that this occurs, some workmen drilling in another location unveil a skeleton that will be an interesting link, to say the least. Though advised to change her identity and go into hiding, Carly feels the killer would find her regardless of her actions – so if the police can't find the killer, she'll have to take matters into her own hands. I think the Roy Grace series is very enjoyable to read, the books are easy to read and interesting. What I find fascinating about this series is that Roy Grace's first wife Sandy disappeared several years ago. Roy is now remarried and has a young son. But he is still brooding over what happened with Sandy and in this book he might finally get the answer to the riddle. Denial can play no role in this case as these women are not only similar in age but the near likenesses of one another. Where will these dangerous inquisitions find Grace? Will he have stumbled across a serial killer’s plot that has spanned through decades?

As a child, Jodie Bentley's only two wishes were to be rich and to be attractive. A plastic surgeon helped her with the attractive part, so now she's working on marrying a rich man. The only hard part is getting rid of him once you've caught him. After being involved in a fatal traffic accident, Carly Chase receives word that the drivers of the other two vehicles have been tortured and murdered. DS Roy Grace has warned her that she could be next.
