The EP features a new studio track, "Last Rites", written, recorded and completed entirely during the COVID-19 lockdown, and six live tracks taken from their American Victorious Sky Tour. Who knows what made the guys do it, but this is just the perfect classic Alter Bridge that everyone was waiting for. The seven-track EP consists of a brand new song, "Last Rites", plus six live favourites from Walk the Sky.

The Alter Bridge that I loved was back full force after 'The Last Hero' which I found to be thoroughly underwhelming.Myles’ vocals generally sound closer to the classic AB sound as opposed to the 'The Last Hero', where his performance mimicked the ‘classic glam-rock’ style he employs when partnering with Slash. It has grasped my attention on the first listen and for sure I will continue to find new gems lurking behind the many layers of the song. The Bitter End is again an example of a song with a calming vibe, while Pay No Mind is based on interesting riff with visible synth elements and great rhythm section. In fact, there are so many nuances in the songs, Walk The Sky sits nicely on top of my list of favorite Alter Bridge records.

I would be surprised if this one did not make it to the setlist for live shows, but as it happens, sometimes the most epic songs are not to be played live. There is an argument to be made that a more varied pace might have made the overall feel of the album slightly less uniform. The falsetto at the beginning of the song is the one that gives me goosebumps and the chorus that Myles is taking over is absolutely catchy.Water Rising is for sure an epic song and it’s no wonder that it has its place in the live show setlist for years. One of these happened to the latest solo-project offering from AB axeman Mark Tremonti, inviting obvious comparisons. I found it perplexing that such talented and well-experienced musicians would tone down the quality of their writing and playing at this stage of their careers after extensive work in other acts and gaining significant tour experience.
