About this deal

i5-1035G1: A low-power, Ice Lake family processor (SoC) featuring 4 cores, 8 threads, 6 MB of L3 cache and the UHD G1 (32 EUs) iGPU. Inside, it’s powered by up to an Intel ® Core ™ i7 processor with 8 GB 2400 MHz RAM, and features Intel® UHD Graphics. Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.

It scored 2,399 overall on Geekbench 5, a testing suite that measures everyday computer tasks like browsing the internet and rendering augmented reality effects.

There are certain aspects of the keyboard that are great, including the ErgoLift hinge that does a nice job of angling the keyboard slightly and key spacing is quite good, but it’s held back by the sponginess of the keys.

ports, HDMI output, and a microSD card reader — so you can easily connect all your current peripherals, displays and projectors with zero hassle. Our partners are electronics experts who test and verify that each product is 100% functional before it leaves the factory. If we have to be honest, ASUS has done a great job, optimizing the machine, as we got about 7 hours and 40 minutes of Web browsing and roughly one hour less of video playback. Between a range of component options, supply shortages, and pricing wars, the budget laptop game is fierce in 2021. The panel doesn't seem particularly sharp, either; perhaps it's a result of the brightness, but the text lacks a bit of clarity.

You can see the specifications of the interface in the interface area under the product specifications. That's below the Acer Aspire 5, which scored 2,744, and even further down the graph from the industry average of 2,983. Below you can compare the scores of ASUS VivoBook 15 F515 with the default settings (left), and with the “Gaming and Web design” profile (right). If not, just know that it’s still usable, but definitely not a good display, probably the biggest concession in the whole build. The notebook lasts 5 hours 24 minutes, way lower than the IdeaPad 530s’ 7 hours 43 minutes, but still behind the Aspire 5 that last 9 hours 27 minutes on single charge.I can get through a YouTube video without immediately recognizing it, but it becomes apparent once I switch displays. I was able to sift through dozens of Google Chrome tabs, plus shuffle through my cloud-based library in Adobe Lightroom without the fans sounding like they were readying for takeoff. Should you have problems with downloading the purchased file, try using a different browser to open the link you’ll receive via e-mail. The screen turns into Retina when viewed at distance equal to or greater than 60cm (24″) (from this distance one’s eye stops differentiating the separate pixels, and it is normal for looking at a laptop).

Just because you have USB C does not mean you have USB C Alternate Modes which are required to allow DisplayPort or HDMI output. But if you can swing it, at least consider spending a few hundred more on the Core-i5 version of the VivoBook 15 for a little more power in the processor. The keyboard is the better of the two, with a good amount of travel on the keys without feeling too mushy (they're a little squishy) and clean white backlighting. The battery life results are more positive than the other benchmark tests on the whole, with some solid run times here. The measured maximum brightness of 266 nits in the middle of the screen and 256 nits as an average for the whole area, with a maximum deviation of 8%. So, the laptop features an older chassis, and comes with an optional MX130… which by itself is a rebranded GeForce 940MX – a graphics card that was released in roughly 5 years! And while the size and weight of the VivoBook 15 makes it a relatively nice option for those in need to haul their laptop around, the middling battery life makes it tough to recommend for that purpose. In exchange, you get numerous ports, a thin chassis, and a nearly edge-to-edge widescreen display, but this Asus VivoBook 15 review will show how the result is merely a reminder of the compromises one has to make to save money.
