About this deal

This is a simple and efficient adapter that enables often significantly cheaper gas canisters to be used with a ‘standard’ backpacking stove. Hi Giaovanni, we cycled across Cambodia a couple of years ago but I think we mostly just bought food, because it was so cheap, rather than using our camping stove. These are compatible with the very great majority of backpacking gas stoves and are a type of canister found across the World.

In truth, I think you’d pretty much reached the conclusion already: I don’t believe there are any adaptors or alternative fuel sources for Campingaz Bleuet style stoves. Some people seem to think that certain brands give a more consistent flow and let you use the full canister better. It's looking like I will need to replace the control valve to a lindal valve and possible replace the fuel line to the stove. Like the previous adapter, these adapters are manufactured from brass, various alloys and plastic, with little in the way of moving parts. Update: I asked on Twitter and was told that ‘aerosol’ canisters are the most readily available in Cambodia. They’ve still got butane and/or propane inside but are usually used for caravans, barbecues and patio heaters. These canisters are a bit heavy to carry around in a backpack but might be used for camping from a car or at a basecamp. Three Points of the Compass is only commenting on what there is out there, products that some people have used and others do not.

It would have taken a lot of effort to establish a new standard just to be able to sell non Lindal sourced valves on their canisters. Is there a adaptor which allows me to make the the party grill connect with a larger Canister as the campingaz R907? The lightest that Three Points of the Compass has found is one of the Micron Duo stoves introduced by Primus in 2019. So a stove that used the camping gas method to attach to either kind of can woukd be superior due no brass threads to wear out and flexibility.I am now the owner of a CampingGaz Tristar and for the last week I have been looking for a way to adapt the stove to use Lindal canisters. These adapters do open up purchase choices for canisters and across the length of Scotland they can potentially enable abandoned part-used or full canisters in bunkhouses and bothies to be used. My canister top Soto Windmaster stove has a gas regulator but the design of that stove means it will not fit the adapter.

All I can say is that the link I provided is the actual seller from where I purchased mine and the adapter I have shown is the one that was sent to me, if some time ago. One was a new purchase while another has rarely been outside any gear list I have compiled over the past decade. As 2023 comes to an end, Three Points of the Compass takes a glance at a handful of items of gear that accompanied me on trail. If it burns better after you’ve done those things, even if only briefly, then it’s probably the cold. Alternatively there are adapters that will enable a ‘standard’ backpacking stove with a lindal connector to be used with these canisters.
