First, the whole plot hinges on a man driving off of a cliff and walking for over an hour while marginally injured. As his “widow” makes arrangements for his memorial service, he finds a job he enjoys, and makes new friends who become truly important to him.

The story kept me engaged for sure but was far fetched and slightly predictable, but I still couldn’t stop reading. Her many international bestsellers include The Whittiers, The High Notes, The Challenge, Suspects, Beautiful, High Stakes, Invisible, Flying Angels, The Butler, and other highly acclaimed novels. And get this-he lives and makes his way to a lovely little YOUNG french woman and makes love to her within several hours of her rescuing him. One does imagine simply walking away from everything, but not like Charles does letting everyone who matters think he’s dead. But, when Charles discovers that the police think he’s dead, he thinks about just staying with Aude and living a simpler life.

As the story progresses, it seems to get a little bit better, but the first few chapters I was turned off by the writing style. Feeling stuck in a stressful job and a loveless marriage, Charlie Vincent's life feels stagnate until turning upside down after a car crash.In the story, it has a way of giving you a perspective on what life could be like if you just decided to get up and walk away. Without a Trace is a moving tale of second chances and creating a life worth living, from the billion copy bestseller, Danielle Steel. There were many times I felt the story was repetitive and the same points were being made over and over again.
