The game was an instant hit, so much so that they played again without me while I was out on Saturday afternoon, even sending me a little picture text of one of Daddy's creations at one point for me to guess.

If at times somebody gets it right after just one or two bricks, so be it – it is far preferable to silent moments where one builds and others wait. We gave up on rolling the dice and decided to just pick whatever we wanted to build off of the card. There is no game board, nor is one built – Creationary revolves around the dice, the cards, the included brick container and the things players build and tear apart. It was created by Melbourne based mum to five, Nicole Avery who loves spreadsheets, routines and running.The different levels allow everyone to feel challenged and it ‘evens’ out the age and ability levels. Sure there are a few quickies that are built well and fast and guessed but way too many that are hard to conceptualize and never come close to being guessed correctly and take forever to build. There was some in-depth negotiation needed to convince him that the next creation would be even better and he might like to play with that instead! It doesn’t matter what level you choose – if you’re playing for score you still only get one point if your creation is guessed correctly. The objects run from easy to hard and you don't have to build exactly what is on the card--you just have to be able to get your team to guess it.
