This LEGO® Star Wars™ construction toy is a reinterpretation of the 7130 Snowspeeder vehicle from 1999 and makes a great LEGO Star Wars gift for builders of any age. A good representation of both an iconic character and figure which a lot of fans want, and he even has the old-style megaphone blaster from the early sets. It's sleek, clever and perfectly sized, offering the perfect snapshot of a battle on Hoth, with a smartly-designed gun tower, three excellently designed and relevant minifigures, plus a bonus Lando Calrissian based on 2003's version that very few of us will have.

At the rear of the cockpit you can see the controls for the rear (harpoon) gun, consisting of a steer and a screen with aim assist. It's the first set I've seen this year that I'm really looking forward to opening; definately a day 1 purchase for me! Mixing newer Snowspeeders with older models, such as the one from 75014 Battle of Hoth or 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave actually makes sense. Also, the strap around their ankles should be on the other leg, and they should have brown belts on the chest area. For me the Snowspeeder (or T-47 Airspeeder) is one of the iconic Star Wars vehicles, together with the beforementioned Millennium Falcon, AT-AT, X-Wing and Tie Fighter.

The details match to the classic 2003 original, however, to make sure people didn’t attempt to pass off any of these remakes as the original, or cause the originals to lose value, LEGO printed a silver 20th Anniversary logo on the back of the torso. He also has a white backpack piece, which this particular trooper has had since its first version in 1999. The face print is a generic male with cheekbones and a slight smile, nothing too special but the generic nature of these 2019 Rebels means you can army build them for Hoth scenes.He has the generic pilot head, and the same torso and legs as Luke and his pilot helmet has the Rebel alliance insignia in blue. Marvel at all the minifigures of Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Yoda, Han Solo,Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Rey and Finn. These work well but the white cap may be more accurate, but I imagine they used the dark tan cap to keep the colour scheme/motif. The stand is good too because it gives you somewhere to keep the collectable Lando figure rather than just having him loose. I don’t mind them here as they add a lot of the detail which would be too hard to construct through bricks and too expensive to print.The viewport screen is a sticker and has some nice detailing to show the gunner controls and tow cable, with Hoth in the background. Easy to assemble (small screen driver and a container to hold screws and blocks is all that is required). One of my favorites and definitely nothing wrong with revisiting a set and using different build techniques. As usual with UCS models there is some color vomit comprising the innards of the model, although it seems to be less vomit than other UCS models.
