About this deal

A calm, relaxing nature-like melody played on a watery echoing synth, accompanied by other synths playing chords. Moog City 2” is a recreation of “Moog City” from Minecraft Alpha. However this time I actually did use Moog synthesisers, along a lot of other synths that I acquired over the course of making this album.

The big difference of Volume Beta is that the tone is both more positive and at times very dark. Some of the songs even have percussion, which is something that was a complete rarity with Volume Alpha. For example 'Taswell' or 'Aria Math'." [1] A third Minecraft album is allegedly complete, which is longer than both Alpha and Beta, but once Microsoft acquired Mojang it was scrapped because Microsoft wanted the rights to it. At 4:00, a variation on the melody from "Key" plays on the pan drums. A very similar variation on the same melody can be heard in "Mall". Flake: Not much to say about this one. It's not featured ingame, but I think it would fit well with the new crystal caves added in 1.17/1.18. The xylophone type instrument used is a unique sound for C418. Dreiton: Dreiton features some of the same hand-pan sounds found in "Aria Math", in a more relaxed form. The bells also make a return.Disc 1 features music heard in the games menus, and during gameplay, including extra music only heard in the games' Nether world and Creative mode. This is different from Volume Alpha, as every song on that album had a description or joke of some kind. It may be that this unexpected "silence" is an intentional way to emphasize this album's much darker tone. A very possible reason why "Ballad of the Cats" has that title is because the sounds of ghasts are distorted recordings of C418's cat. [7] Floating Trees: This is another one that plays on the title screen, and I have the same thoughts about it as I do "Mutation". It's not my favorite but it's still fine. McDonald, Richard (28 May 2014). "Minecraft - Volume Beta (Review)". Original Sound Version . Retrieved 20 September 2022.

The copy that I'm reviewing this through is split into two "discs", one contains mainly music that was added to the game in a "Music Update" shortly after this records release, and the other is mostly the Music Discs, which are items you find ingame. The old-sounding intro to this song is shortened in Minecraft - Volume Beta, compared to the in-game music disc version. Two extra songs were left out of this album, those being Boss, which plays when the player is battling the Ender Dragon, and 11. The record starts off with an excerpt from Chopin's Funeral March [4] played on a synth organ, but it is interrupted by vinyl static and switches to an electronic, upbeat, exploration and adventure tune with a dark undertone. Kyoto: This is another song that doesn't play ingame, but the bells and woodwind sounds would fit well anywhere.I released this album in late 2013 when I was about to be doing a gig in Mexico. Every time I think about this album, I get nostalgic about Mexico and how wildly different it is from the life I know from Germany or Canada. Though now that I think about it, I feel like Volume Alpha might be a love record to Europe, while Beta is dedicated to America and Asia. This might sound like gibberish to you, but to me it’s kind of a personal internalized opinion.

Warmth” plays in the game’s hell. Or as it is called in Minecraft, “Nether”. This song tries to play with the idea that even hell isn’t all bad, and there’s good things to be found. But it’s still a very harsh environment.

I loved the hype around hearing new Minecraft music because it all sounded great, but the yearly (or even bi-annually) EP releases don't get me hyped, especially as they've not got cool names anymore.
