About this deal

We have a superstition in Greece in which if you find a fallen eyelash on your friend's face, you hide it between your fingers, then you both make a wish and whoever gets it, they get their wish granted. My wish was for this book to be great and fun to the end.

twinkling bright Christmas stars for this genuinely laugh-out-loud wonderous piece of writing that had me reading late into the night to finish it. As part of my work with UN Women, I have started reading as many books and essays about equality as I can get my hands on. There is so much amazing stuff out there! Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering! I’ve been discovering so much that, at times, I’ve felt like my head was about to explode… I decided to start a Feminist book club, as I want to share what I’m learning and hear your thoughts too. I immediately Googled it and discovered that yes, to my chagrin, yeet is now a real word. It’s in the Merriam-Webster dictionary for goodness sake!An entertaining read, including a dash of potential romantic connections, family feuds, and a lot of shenanigans that added to the ‘joy’ of the holiday, along with other moments that offered insights into long-term family misunderstandings, as well as resolutions. If you're thinking this sounds too similar to In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren, while they have a similar macro-premise, the stories couldn't be more different. (though both great!)

Kelk explores deftly explores dysfunctional families, failed relationships, and career struggles. And boy can she write. I think she'd be an excellent literary fiction writer. She's funny but she's got the technical skills and talent, too. Only it really doesn’t, and Gwen wakes up the next day and, somehow, it is Christmas all over again, although she seems to be the only one who realizes that they had celebrated it the day before. Somewhat reminiscent of Groundhog Day, this continues to happen.

This was my first read by author Lindsey Kelk, it was full-on dramarama at Christmas and I was so here for it. It was also very funny at times but heartwarming in equal measure. What surprised me the most was the fact that it wasn't repetitive as it had a Groundhog Day like plot. I loved how the romance wasn't the main focus of the story, the family was, and Gwen's relationships within it. Don't get me wrong is she definitely hot for the boy next door but that isn't what the book is about and I liked that about it. Newly single lawyer Gwen Baker is hoping that a family Christmas – countryside, a mountain of food and festive films –
