About this deal

These butter mints will remind you of being a kid again! Silky and smooth, they are often served after dinner, during holiday times and definitely at weddings and baby showers. Do not get intimated by the end product because its simply a mix and cut recipe requiring no baking! Just the kind of dessert this busy mom can appreciate. Pro Tip #2: You can use any decorator tip that you like – star (open or shut) or round (small or large). I ended up not using the decorator tips in the photo because I wanted the mints to be bite size, so I used tip #199. The mints ended up being about the size of a dime.

I think butter mints are typically peppermint, however, places like Micheal’s or Hobby Lobby have an amazing baking aisle with tons of other extract flavors. I would def encourage you to test out a few other ones like cotton candy and strawberry extracts. You could really have a lot of fun with this recipe base! Just remember that oil and extract is usually a 4: 1 ratio (as in you need 1 tsp of extract to contain the same flavor as 1/4th tsp of oil) Oils are stronger and therefore superior for a butter mint recipe and you also need to balance the liquid content when making things like mints. If you want to skip making them entirely, you can buy butter mints here. 5 Unique Holiday Desserts IN THE FREEZER: You can freeze cream cheese butter mints in an airtight container for up to two months.

Leave out for 24 hours to completely dry. Use a dough scraper (aka bench scraper) to loosen the mints from the wax paper. Storing the Candy Easy Holiday Peppermint Bark: The foundation for this delicious recipe is the bottom layer of chocolate. I used almond bark because it’s so easy to work with. Add a bit of coconut butter and it melts down perfectly. The top layer is white chocolate (or white almond bark) with some crushed peppermints. Other than a dot of peppermint extract, that’s about it for the recipe! Give these mints as edible, sweet gifts, candy displays, or enticing table decorations. Just wrap them in plastic bags or a cute metal tin.

Step 2 – Mix in Powdered Sugar –Add in 1 cup of the powdered sugar. Mix together until well combined. MAKE AHEAD: You can definitely make these Christmas mints ahead of time to save yourself some last-minute holiday stress.

Your homemade cream cheese mints can be served at room temperature for a couple hours. However, since they are made with cream cheese, these holiday mints do need to be refrigerated for long-term storage. You can keep the mints in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. FLAVOR: You can substitute other flavors for the peppermint flavoring, such as pomegranate or raspberry for the red, green apple for the green, or vanilla or coconut for the white. Making them at least a day ahead is best. They also keep really well in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 month. You can also freeze them up to 4 months. Just be sure when you are storing them to separate the layers with parchment paper. And if you make the stars, be sure they are totally dry or the points will break off. Flavors: We used peppermint extract for a cool and minty holiday treat. However, you could use different extracts or flavorings such as almond extract (one of my favorites), sweet mint extract, vanilla extract, etc. After 24 hours have passed you can store your candy in an airtight container or cover with plastic wrap. There’s no need to refrigerate but you can if you prefer. What to Expect from These Delicious Butter Mints

Easy Peanut Brittle: If you love the crisp sweet flavor of brittle with the yummy crunch of peanuts, this is the recipe for you. This brittle is a family recipe, passed down over multiple generations. It’s easy, and definitely one you’ll pass on to your friends and loved ones. This is one of those easy candy recipes you’re going to make again and again! Talk about a great sweet treat. SIMPLICITY: This recipe is incredibly easy to follow, making it perfect for both beginner and experienced cooks. The step-by-step instructions ensure that you’ll achieve beautiful, tasty mints every time. I’ve always been a fan of these light meltaway mints because they dissolve on the tongue. Peppermint is a favorite flavor, as I mentioned above, but I’m not a huge fan of hard peppermint discs. Give me the soft ones any day. Christmas Butter Mint Ingredients Start by prepping a work space on a flat work surface. I used parchment paper but you might choose waxed paper or even a baking mat. Have additional powdered sugar nearby in case you need it for rolling the dough. You might consider place your paper on a baking sheet so it can be moved later on.

I don’t know about you but I’m crazy about peppermint, especially at Christmastime. But I’m most fond of softer melt-in-the-mouth mints, so butter mints are perfect, especially during the holidays. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and mint extract. Add in the powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed, until everything is well incorporated and smooth,
