About this deal

Hello and welcome to (INSERT HERE - record breaking) Birkenhead parkrun. Number 230 saw us reach 793! The funnel double tape thing made its debut and we had 4 scanners. Thanks for your help in the funnel and although there is no core team pub based review planned of today,we think it went well.It was a wonderful sight watching the start from the finish funnel and seeing you all come down the road and then wind (rhyme with mind not er,wind) your way around the park. Hello and welcome to this week`s run report which is being written whilst watching the England game to add that danger element to the proceedings.We had another excellent turnout of 427 runners,thanks to all of you and thanks to our volunteers.We had to make a few job changes late on but all went well and we really appreciate all the support you give us.Congratulations to all our runners and volunteers who ran the 52 miles of the Tour of Merseyside this week.I popped up after parkrun with the pink sparkly welly plogging lady aka Gemma to see the finish and it was good to see so many familiar faces being awesome. Congratulations Keith! No choccies in the finish funnel but there were fruit pastilles and 50% of the barcode scanners had pink or sparkly wellies.

Our first finisher (male) was Phil Langan who ran 16:28,next was William Richardson,a first timer with us today.His time was 17:09 and Steven Leslie ran 17:56. Welcome to all our first timers and tourists today! Congratulations on joining us for the first time of it was your first ever foray into the parkrun world and thanks very much indeed for choosing us if you were doing some touristing. We hope you very much enjoyed your Birkenhead parkrun experience and we look forward to seeing you next week or the next time you`re in the area.

The PhD takes the form of two components, critical and creative. The creative aspect of my work is a novel called “The Hyacinth Garden” and the critical component explores the link between narrative unreliability, jealousy and impotence with particular emphasis on the first person observer as narrator.

Aleksandra (Senja) Andrejevic is a Senior Lecturer in Dramatic Writing at the University of Gloucestershire. Her short prose has been published in The Lampeter Review, The Wrong Quarterly, Scrutiny Journal, The Dawntreader, Literary Mama, Brain, Child, Storgyand other magazines. In 2019, Aleksandra was awarded funding by Arts Council England, through their National Lottery Project Grant, for her play HALF.She has an MA in Creative and Critical Writing with University of Gloucestershire, where she's currently in the final stages of her PhD. She has recently completed her first novel and is represented by Llorella Belli Literary Agency in London. Tes Asfaw We will also be collecting for Wirral Foodbank next week.Now,we were hoping they`d be able to bring along their van to collect what we collect but unfortunately they can`t do that.I have no idea how much we`ll collect but between the volunteers we will take the donations to local supermarkets who have collection areas and if anyone can help with that (depending on what we get) that`ll be great.Like the plogging its something we`ll be looking to do again very soon.Our two-year,part-time Diploma in Creative Writingallows you to strengthen your ability in four major areas of literary activity — prose, poetry, drama and analytical reading — as well as the chance to specialise in the genre of your choice. I SEE THROUGH YOU is a psychological suspense about a woman who is ghosted and becomes obsessed with infiltrating her ex’s life. It’s also about unrequited love and not knowing where your place in the world is without someone to validate it. Where did the inspiration come from? If you haven`t volunteered before its an excellent way to see parkrun from another angle and appreciate the amount of hard work that goes into putting this free event on. And you get to wear hi vis,and I always have fruit pastilles. Its our third birthday next week so please feel free to wear fancy dress and bring along cake if you want. First finisher today was Jordan Donnelly with our third best time overall,and not surprisingly a pb for him,of 15:39.Next,with a pb of 15:42 and our 4th best overall time was Phil Robertson and Harley Henshaw ran a pb of 16:24.Congratulations to all!

Jess Moriarty has been a Principal Lecturer in Creative Writing for almost ten years and is currently Course Leader for the Creative Writing MA at the University of Brighton. She is an experienced researcher and editor for the book series, Performance and Communitiesfor Intellect Books. She has published extensively on creative writing pedagogy, autoethnography and community engagement. Her last book – Walking for Creative Recovery– explored life writing and walking as a method for supporting well-being and her new book – Creative Conversations– uses a combination of life writing and interviews to offer strategies for motivating the creative processes. Her pedagogic approach has a focus on diversity, personal story-telling and writing for change. Jess is the co-director of the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing Centre for Arts and Wellbeing (brighton.ac.uk)and on the board of directors for Lapidus. International. In 2022, Jess became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
