About this deal

Dave Forristal – Piano and Hammond – (Born Dave Forristal 14 Feb 1973, Fakenham, Norfolk) 2018-2022 Finally, Dean Sterling & The Teen-Beats’ “Lost Love” (Pye B, 1961) is a wistful, obscure gem that unlike its oft-anthologized top side “Send Me A Girl” is truer to the Buddy spirit, I feel. It must not go unsaid that The Searchers took “Needles And Pins” from Cliff’s repertoire, hearing it performed live in Hamburg. In the ensuing interval before the Searchers’ definitive version Pye labelmate Petula Clark also issued an evocative French language take “La Nuit N’en Finit Plus” with a choral denouement which to me emulated frustrated felines in heat (in a good way). It would be interesting to know how these versions came about and who influenced who to tape it. John Lennon – rhythm guitar (although MacDonald was unsure if Lennon played the rhythm guitar part) Cliff Bennett & the Rebel Rousers will also be available for press and radio interviews ahead of their live performance.

"Celebrating 'Revolver': Beatles' First On-Purpose Masterpiece". Rolling Stone . Retrieved 24 June 2017.Manfred Mann’s road manager Billy held forth with lurid tales of the Carrousel Club in Copenhagen, where personal manager, Bernard Lee, they had just played, and Cliff’s listened tolerantly by his side. From Cliff Bennett Branches Out. And, no, it’s not as good as the Sam & Dave classic ballad but no one could have matched that. Brave try though and well worth a listen.

Ref. Mike Berry, I think I saw him once, down the bill a bit to Jerry Lee somewhere in South London, in a cinema type venue, the distinguishing feature of which was fruit machines along the sides near the stage. Whether those whoops and hollers from Cliff during the break and at the close were entirely suited to the barren existence of the singer since she’d left him to his three rooms etc., I’m a tad unsure, but they don’t detract from the atmosphere for me. Everett, Walter (1999). The Beatles as Musicians: Revolver Through the Anthology. New York City: Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0-19-512941-0. Cliff Bennett will be on vocals, supported by a five star line up with Lars Lundquist on lead guitar, Pete Pritchard on bass, Geoff Nicholls on drums, Dave Forristal on keys, Bob Lovett on trumpet, and Aaron Liddard and Damian Hand (sax).Chas Hodges – bass (born Charles Nicholas Hodges, 28 December 1943, Edmonton, North London, England died 22 September 2018) And in case anyone’s wondering, my opening clip featured Cliff and the boys with a live version of I Take What I Want. My closer just has to be another Sam & Dave number. Single and one that took me to the Garnet Mimms original rather than the other way round. One of Cliff’s gentler efforts. Unfortunately, Paul had to leave the studio before Cliff put the vocal on and next morning there was a phone call from “McBeatle,” who had just heard the finished product.

I like most of Adam Faith’s output, despite the overt BH affectation but I would not place most of his repertoire in the upper tier of Buddy imitations, of which so many originated in the land who celebrated and appreciated him most, Great Britain. Also from the first LP and a typical example of the Bennett/RR approach as applied to a song from Curtis Mayfield, one of the more idiosyncratic song writers. The innovative soul musicians, who are known for hits such as ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’ and ‘One Way Love’, were the first London band to be signed by Beatles manager Brian Epstein and first British band to be signed to the Motown label. Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers are a 1960s British rhythm and blues, soul and beat group who had two Top 10 hits with “One Way Love” (No. 9 UK, 1964) and “ Got to Get You into My Life” (No. 6 UK, 1966).
