Worst idea ever.’ He leaned against a cedar tree and wiped his forehead. ‘Hazel’s magic is too good. If I have to fight, I’ll be useless.’

December 15, 2007 - Artemis sets out on a hunt, leaving Zoë in charge of the Hunters. Her twin brother, Apollo, arrives to escort Percy, Thalia, Grover, Nico, Bianca and the Hunters to Camp Half-Blood. Telepathy with the Dead: In The House of Hades, Nico warns the Lemures of Venice (angry spirits) to stay away from him, Hazel and Frank by giving off a warning vibe. In The Battle of the Labyrinth, Nico becomes grim and solitary, and considerably more powerful. He says, "only the dead respect me... and only out of fear." His attitude may have changed both because of Bianca's death and Minos' manipulations. He believes that he will never be accepted by the living or Camp Half-Blood, much like how his father Hades feels out of place on Olympus. Nico is wanted revenge for Bianca's death, which he blamed Percy for. However, Nico forgives Percy after Bianca's ghost tells him that it wasn't his fault that she died. He also accepts the small figurine of Hades that Bianca wanted him to have.Jason had expected about a hundred spirits, but twice that many were milling about, chasing spectral serving girls, smashing plates and cups, and basically making a nuisance of themselves. Octavian often has an air of desperation about him, raising his voice constantly, and reacts dramatically to situations. Most of the time he was able to insult others discretely. He is also, occasionally, able to win favor in the Senate, even over Reyna herself. Meanwhile, Reyna Ramírez-Arellano, Nico di Angelo, and Gleeson Hedge are falling from the sky with the Athena Parthenos above the volcano, Mount Vesuvius after Shadow Travel. Nico is too exhausted to shadow travel again, so Reyna helps by lending him her strength, which is a power of children of Bellona. They shadow travel one more time to Pompeii, where they lay camp for the night since Nico is unable to travel anymore. Coach Hedge takes first watch as Nico and Reyna go to sleep. The Ancient Romans used the entrails from sacrificed animals to determine the advisability of any chosen endeavor and event just as Octavian does with stuffed animals. As a ritual before meeting the oracle, the ancient Greeks did as well. June 24, 2006 - The second Titan War starts after Luke reveals his true allegiance to Kronos and abandons Camp Half-Blood.

Italian: In The House of Hades, Nico shows that he's fluent in Italian, being Italian-born. As shown in The Blood of Olympus, Nico's knowledge of Italian helps him understand some other Romance languages, such as Spanish and Portuguese. In The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure it's revealed that Nico has memorized some passages of Dante's Divine Comedy in the original Italian. He hobbled forward, putting on his best cranky old man expression. ‘Guess I’m late to the party. I hope you saved me some food?’Along with The House of Hades, this book does not feature an accompanying prophecy; rather it fulfills two lines of the Prophecy of Seven. Reyna arrives in Greece; she, Nico di Angelo, Gleeson Hedge, and the Seven discuss the war. They form a mutual hatred of Octavian, upon learning that he defied her decree. By The Blood of Olympus, Nico comes to absolutely despise the self-proclaimed Pontifex Maximus (to the point that his throat "constricted with hate" while just thinking about Octavian), and even considers personally assassinating Octavian without any qualms. Nico notes how different Octavian is from his love interest Will Solace, despite them both being a descendant of Apollo and describes the former as looking like a watered-down, unhealthy version of Will, without anything in him that makes a child of Apollo special. Octavian, on the other hand, seems to have finally come to appreciate what a powerful ally Nico could potentially be for him, as he claims to see a decent amount of ruthlessness in the son of Hades, which he also greatly appreciates. Hence, Octavian promptly attempts to sway the son of Hades to his side, arguing that the Greeks hadn't ever actually done anything for the former. Octavian claims that he can beat any offer the Greeks might have given Nico, and assures him a place in New Rome in return for Nico siding with him and allowing the Romans to win. Nico, however, doesn't even consider the offer, declines right away, and promptly tells all of the assembled demigods to listen to what Reyna has to say, just as she arrives with the Athena Parthenos in tow. Nico is later present when Octavian intends to shoot an onager at Gaea, and clearly sees that doing so will result in Octavian's death. However, it is at that moment that Nico recalls what his father Hades had told him, about some deaths that cannot and should not be prevented, and Nico needing to act when the time comes. Hence, for the first time, Nico decides to trust the wisdom of his father, and stops Will Solace (who stares at him in disbelief) from trying to prevent Octavian's plan, and subsequently witnesses the augur's horrific fiery demise, along with the death of Leo and destruction of Gaea. While Nico isn't at all saddened by Octavian's death, he is very guilt-ridden, since Nico feels that him choosing not to prevent Octavian's death unnecessarily cost Leo his life, something that he is unable to forgive himself for. Nico is also horrified of Will now possibly thinking of him as a monster for letting Octavian die, but is extremely relieved to learn of that not being the case. While Annabeth was keeping Mimas occupied, Piper released the makhai from the statue of Ares, much to the giant's outrage. When the makhai seemingly disappear and "abandon" Piper, Mimas charged her with his hammer, but was stabbed by Annabeth in the thigh. As he staggered off-balance, Piper delivered the final blow by stabbing the giant in his gut. Mimas toppled face-first into the nearest doorway and disintegrated into ash when the stone face of Phobos falls onto him, as the god apparently decided to intervene to help get rid of him after Piper sacrificed her Cornucopia to get the makhai. Other times Jason found himself at the crest of Half-Blood Hill. Gaia the Earth Mother rose from the ground – a swirling figure of soil, leaves and stones.
