About this deal

We would be interested in knowing if Mr. Moßgraber has any plans to include configurations for the Icon QCon Pro G2 in his software. This is not a critique of Mr. Moßgraber's very fine work. He is attempting to fill a gap left wide open by the manufacturer. I got rid of my x-touch for a g2, mainly for the LCD screen, the Icon is working out much better for me, I'm thinking of getting an extender... No missing functions were noticed in everyday work; all work steps that were sometimes carried out with the mouse and shortcut could be carried out ergonomically with the Artist Mix. The hardware has otherwise remained the same since 2008 – and thanks to ongoing updates, it has developed into a reliable partner in large and small studios to this day.

These Avid control surfaces top our charts. But there are also other control surfaces that are worthy alternatives, especially if you're on a budget or work with multiple DAWs. This is especially the case when adjusting MIDI channel volumes and other lower resolution parameters while the faders are in Flipped mode, where you can feel the motors constantly trying to pull towards the nearest quantised value. This is a common shortcoming of motorised faders, though. There’s also a bank of eight customisable function buttons. Functions are assigned within the host DAW, and each button has two ‘layers’ available to it, so a total of 16 functions can be assigned; the currently active layer of functions is switched via a button adjacent to the function buttons. Other customisable controllers are available in the form of footswitch ports on the rear panels of both the Pro G2 and the EX G2.It is, however, a warning to consumers about Icon Pro Audio. Their sales literature and product ads contain false advertising. We have a wide range of outboard processors ranging from preamps and EQs to compressors and EFX. These devices make perfect companions to hardware mixers and DAWs. Great choices for live performance, recording and mixing situations. Great for processing vocals or instruments on input. As well as its bank of channel faders, the QCon Pro G2 features a master fader for controlling the main output level of the host DAW, and to the right of this, occupying much of the remainder of the unit’s top panel, is an array of soft-feel, light-up buttons. Some, such as the aforementioned Assignment buttons, change the operation of the hardware, while others are all about controlling the host DAW. iCON QCon Pro G2

The way around this, of course, is to use an external DAW controller. When such devices first hit the market they tended to be quite expensive, especially if you wanted a system with motorised faders and DAW-to-controller communications, rather than just a bank of ‘dumb’ MIDI faders and buttons.Other features of the QCon EX G2 are illuminated buttons for mute, solo, record arm and channel select, a dual-function rotary encoder on every channel, and a 12-segment LED level metering bridge. Learn more about the QCon Pro G2 in our article iCON Pro Audio Launch New QCon Pro G2 DAW Controller And QCon EX G2 Fader Expander With Updated DAW Modes, Overlays And Hardware Enhancements. Each channel strip is topped off by a rotary encoder surrounded by a ring of 11 LEDs that indicate the value of the corresponding parameter. The rotaries also have a button action when pressed, which provides further and deeper control possibilities. Overall, however, the controller looks very robust and durable. Even without a long training phase, the excellent cooperation between DAW and EuCon client makes it possible to optimize your workflow and use the Avid Artist Mix sensibly. They are knowingly selling a product that does not do what they claim. They do not support their products, do not respond to customer support requests, and their US distributor is grasping at straws in the dark.

You have a select button that corresponds with the rotary encoder and the OLED. At the bottom, you also have four modifier keys. The first of those is the second shift key. Then we have the control, the option, and command alt. These correspond to the modifier keys and your computer keyboard. We also have four user-assignable buttons at the bottom, and those can be assigned to a wide variety of different tasks and functions. Slate Media Technology’s RAVEN range of control surfaces is in a totally different category compared to the control surfaces we’ve already mentioned. They are large multi-touch displays, which respond to finger touches and gestures similar to how we interact with tablet devices and smartphones which makes RAVEN displays incredibly intuitive to operate upon first use. The Icon QCon Pro G2 is a DAW controller for eight individual channels. All of these and the additional master channel are equipped with a motorized fader. There are buttons for mute, solo, record, and select, as well as panning controls. Transport controls, a jog wheel for navigation, and numerous buttons for extended functions are also integrated into the DAW software. An angled, illuminated display at the head end of the device provides information about the channel names, the currently adjustable parameters, and more. There is no 2-character "Assignment" display. On the MCU (and, from pictures, on the XTouch as well), this tells you what state the device is in. However, this isn’t that big a deal, as the G2 indicates some of the info that would otherwise be displayed on the Assignment display in other ways (e.g. via lighted buttons or by what’s displayed on the scribble strip). Still, there are a few states that are maybe not obvious, which can lead you to think you're in a state that you're not. But I've not been much hampered by this. Before I do that – and keeping in mind that I’ve never used an MCU – here are the biggest downsides of the G2 as compared to the MCU (and I think the XTouch would not suffer from these, but this is based only on viewing photos of it). Both controllers feature support for all of the most popular DAWs on both Mac and PC, and can be used either standalone, or as part of a larger Icon setup with multiple controllers.

A wide range and assortment of personal listening solutions, including studio headphones, DJ Headphones, ear-hook and in-ear monitors. Innovative technologies such as our own ScanPro(TM) 45mm Neodymium magnet driver provide pure, ultra clean sound output for the critical listener. Being a Eucon control surface, you get the deep DAW integration, for a range of DAWs and NLEs and flexibility in a versatile control surface designed for fast project turnaround. Plus, its price makes it an easier choice for freelance sound editors and mixers. Anyway, because it took so long to figure out the G2’s functionality, I decided to make a spreadsheet that includes most the functions I tested (I left most of the really obvious ones out, and didn’t bother mussing much with entering digits into text fields… because that’s what keyboards are for) and the G2 button combos required to execute them, as well as a list of the functions that didn’t work. I'm going to post it here in case it may help someone with a new G2 (or in case anyone is curious). Studio reference monitors ranging from 3.5 to 8.0 inch drivers. Pristine quality and flat response deliver a listening experience that helps your mixes transfer nicely from mix environment to radio, cars and clubs. We also offer wireless solutions for controlling your monitor system, and sub-woofers for low frequency accuracy. There are a number of different Operating modes available, selected via the Assignment buttons on the right of the unit’s fascia. In some modes, such as Pan, the LCD screen shows the name of each channel, and adjusting a rotary control will adjust the pan (or whatever) of the corresponding channel. A wide range of audio and MIDI interfaces from compact portable devices to a selection of multi-channel recording interfaces. Several devices offer 24bit 96/192kHz resolution and superb digital conversion for truly pristine sound quality; whether in the studio or doing live field recordings. All functions are immediately available without further configuration, and the DAW (here Logic Pro X) automatically recognizes the controller and can be operated remotely and immediately. It couldn't be easier.
