About this deal

The Pure One Mini Series II uses a single 3in driver, to handle the whole frequency spectrum. However, so do several of Pure’s larger classic models, including the Evoke 1-S and Evoke Flow. Did you manage to read the serial number ok to get the upgrade? Mine is faded with only half the numbers readable. Naturally it's only a mono design, but Pure has squeezed in both DAB and FM tuners plus a handy line input for connecting a portable, a headphone connection and a USB connection for future upgrades. Upgraded the firmware on a Siesta Mi and a Siesta to permit a DAB+ upgrade. I've upgraded these before so had no problem with the actual process, although it can be a bit fiddly.

Bear all this in mind (including the likelihood of users of all abilities making mistakes) when contemplating marketing material for digital switchover. Hmm – mine has 6 numbers, 2 letters, but then a gap and 1 number at the end. Move radio around in light whilst squinting at barcode. Is that a scratch in the label, where a number used to be? Add in the low price, reasonably-priced optional battery and good sound quality and the One Mini appears quite the bargain. If you can stomach the extra cash, the Evoke 1S offers a more attractive design and warmer sound, but we do think this second series model represents a significant upgrade over the original 2008 One Mini. This maturing of the Mini range is a great, if subtle, success. Its body is gloriously smooth to the touch and no longer feels – or looks – particularly cheap. It’s still not going to challenge the Evoke series on style, but if that’s a big turn-off that’s something you can tell just from a picture or two. Test things before upgrading a product – e.g. remember to verify if a particular station/multiplex has good reception that day and in that location.

Maybe I’ll retune it just to be on the safe side. Choose Autotune. Wonder as I wait, as I do every time I’ve done this, on the inconsistently of TV/radio tuning menus and whether on not this device has a ‘Purge’ option to get rid of stations or secondary services that no longer exist.

The other one stops part way through the install and says it has lost the cable connection. I have done a reset of the Highway but still the same. I must see if there is any other reset that I can do to initialise it. Observe, optimistically, that BarcodeScanner doesn’t mention QR codes at all. Looks much simpler / duller than rest. Decide to choose it, based on similarity to own personality. Pure has supplied the One Mini with surprisingly good sound quality, given its size and low price. It’s less bassy than some larger Pure models, but that’s too be expected when there’s precious little extra room in this little box to act as a speaker cabinet. Balanced and punchy, this little DAB is perfect for any low-key situation. Whether listening to the news while cooking or some music while relaxing outside, the One Mini is a great solution – especially if you splash out on the additional battery. Find somewhere to plug radio in. Inevitably involves having to unplugging something else because power adaptor is too big.Open App Store on phone. Start typing “barcode scanner”. Choose “barcode scanner” from autocomplete dropdown rather than barcode scanner free (likely stuffed with ads etc.?) or barcode scanner uk (what’s so country-specific about a barcode scanner app?). A compact, portable digital radio, One Mini Series 2 offers a blend of quality, style and affordability that’s hard to beat. Measuring just 13 cm wide by 13.5 cm high, it’s an ideal travelling companion, providing hours of portable listening when fitted with an optional rechargeable ChargePAK.

Bear in mind though that the volume and scale of sound are necessarily limited. It performs very well given its form factor, but you’re expecting too much if you want it to fill a room with lush sound or power a party. It asserts its presence in the mid-range – there’s not masses of refined high-end detail (which the DAB signal often doesn’t supply anyway) or much of a low-end bassy thump. Just about but I have an Access file with an inventory of my property, including serial numbers, I tried reading the first one with my bar code reader but the barcode did not show all the digits when decoded. Yes, stops at 50% for me as well. I am trying it under various compatibility modes to see if that's the problem (running Win 10 at the moment). Now asked to enter ‘Device Hardware Identifier’. Wonder how secure this needs to be. Wonder how I’m supposed to get that. See it involves holding down Menu button then waiting and holding it down a second time. Presented with a 32-digit hex number on two lines of the screen. Really? Attempt to enter this in full the first time (rejected), verify I’ve typed it correctly, then re-read the instructions and note they only want the top line. Note that they could have just trimmed the first 16 characters of the response or limited the maximum length of the text field. (Grateful I don’t own a different Pure radio, having read account from another user that hardware identifier on Pure One Mini only displayed for two seconds at a time before reverting to radio mode). Aware that not all USB cables are created equal. Search in box for another. Curiously, seems to have a USB symbol on both sides, thus making it more of a pain to insert the correct way around.Remember the domain ‘getdigitalradio.com’ for some reason. Enter it. Ok, this isn’t it, this is that peculiar green one with the animation that looks like it was done in Flash (but isn’t) and the confusing menus/navigation. Use serial numbers codes with a consistent format that’s easy for humans to parse. Use dashes where you have separators. Maybe copy something familiar, like the 0000-0000-0000-0000 credit/debit card style. The Pure One Mini Series II uses a single 3in driver, to handle the whole frequency spectrum.
