About this deal

Even their special weapons platforms and Imperial Guard tanks aren’t as well armoured as some other forces’ equivalents, so you’ll have to keep an eye on damage if you want to succeed. Monster Hunters: Heavy Weapons inflict a mortal wound on a 6 to wound against MONSTERS. The winner of “should have been a stratagem” goes to this one, because this is a worthwhile effect against the right targets, but something you utterly cannot afford to commit to in an all-comers list. Minor thing I will mention is that I notice that they have no horizontal transversal on these guns. I have a feeling that would be a ‘realistic’ detail to have but that would probably result in less clean of a design so I don’t mind over much. The codex includes full rules for all the new Sisters of Battle units, as well as updates for its existing range of models and wargear. There’s an extended Crusade rules section, plenty of point tweaks, and new rules for using prayers and hymns. The whole book is designed to provide much wider strategic variety among Adepta Sororitas armies, which has been found wanting in recent years. Fire From the Hip: Advance and shoot rapid-fire weapons at -1. As a worse version of Tallarn, it’s difficult to ever see this making it. C

Stratagem – Superior Intelligence – 1CP: Lets an INFANTRY squad intercept fire at a deep striker coming in within 12″ at -1 to hit. Regimental Doctrine – Heirloom Weapons: Add 6″ to the range of rapid-fire and heavy weapons with a base range of 24″ or more. Regimental Doctrine – Industrial Efficiency: INFANTRY can rapid-fire at 18″ instead of half range. VEHICLES ignore AP-1.Agile Fighters: Advancing INFANTRY can re-roll their advance. If you are solely planning to use your Infantry to move around the board at great speed this is worth a look – remember that squads will often be advancing twice in a turn thanks to Move! Move! Move!. C+ Warlord Trait – Sanctity of Spirit: Enemy psykers within 24″ suffer perils on any roll of a double. Rules for Boarding Actions can be found inside a new supplement coming to Warhammer 40,000 called Arks Of Omen.

Regimental Doctrine – Brutal Strength: INFANTRY get +1S and +1Ld if they are within 6″ of an officer. VEHICLES can re-roll one of the dice used to determine a random number of shots for each weapon they fire. Alongside the new way of playing Warhammer 40,000, you'll also find some new gubbins to help theme a particular force. Basing kits and more have been previewed over on the Warhammer Community Blog showing off the ways you could make specific 500-point elite forces for use in Boarding Actions. Arks Of Omen - New Supplement! Because of the weaknesses discussed above, The Astra Militarum has some serious issues competing with the top-tier armies out there. The codex has an easy time taking objectives but a difficult time holding them, with T3 models and your damage dealers being relatively fragile. The army has the ability to compete, and probably pull some favorable matchups on Tier 2 and Tier 3 armies, but right now it really struggles against the top-tier stuff out there. Overall though, the army is relatively healthy. It needs some weapon updates and some points drops, but otherwise, it’s not completely broken. For weaknesses we start by flipping one of their strengths; while their shooting is almost unmatched, the Imperial Guard, as an army, are vulnerable and weak in melee. In fact, the Astra Militarum do have some strong melee units – but they’re few and far between. Even the strongest Bullgryn melee units can’t stand toe-to-toe with armies that specialise in getting up close and personal, like Orks, Khorne Chaos Space Marines, or Tyranids. Not to let the new Cadians outdo them, the classic Sentinel is also getting a makeover! There are concrete ways to differentiate between the varieties of sentinels available, but it looks like the box will make two kits.

New Imperial Guard Cadians Warhammer 40k Army Box Revealed!

Stratagem – Tactical Misdirection – 1CP: When one of your units destroys an enemy unit, your opponent gets -1 to hit when shooting against anything else if your unit is their closest target. New rules in this latest codex include the powerful Harbingers of Dreaddebuffs, and the option to dedicate your mighty mechs to one of the Chaos Gods, getting their keyword and a gnarly new ability as thanks for your service. Tanks are complicated, weapons can break and jam – but manpower is a resource that never fails. The Imperium lives and dies on the sacrifices made by its fearless* infantry, and whether you need to overwhelm mutants, heretics, or aliens, there’s no better weapon than a few hundred warm bodies loaded up with lasguns. Many companies, such as Pig Iron Productions, Victoria Miniatures (whose Guard-flavoured‘Scrapper’s Bag of Bits’ product image you see above, or Anvil Industry also make troops that either focus on accurate historical miniatures, or ones that combine history with science fiction, making their models and conversion bits ideal for your Imperial Guard Conversions. If you want to diversify your forces, some companies offer a wider range of female model options, such as the excellent Bad Squiddo Games.

Armoured Rush: This lets you shoot your turret guns after advancing. It’s pretty cool, and honestly only loses out because there are other ways to boost your mobility, and because other choices do more. B Redsnot is proud of his position as least-worst grot, so when Runtherd Killaskun dies, he thinks it’s his chance to really show his mettle. Unfortunately for Redsnot, Da Red Gobbo has swooped in to usurp him! Surely Redsnot won’t stand up to the greatest hero of grot-kind, will he? Especially, when Da Red Gobbo is all that stands between the grots and a planet of bloodthirsty Chaos-worshippers… Given GW announced 9th edition a few monthsinto the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the rollout was always going to be problematic. As the title fighters for the new edition, Codex: Necrons and Codex: Space Marines were released before Christmas 2020, along with the Codex Supplements for the Blood Angels, Deathwatch, and Space Wolves. It turns out that you need quite a few Detachments to fit all those characters in, but we managed it – thanks in large part to a Patrol of Catachans creating space in Ursula Creed’s Battalion. This army shows off the diverse options available to Astra Militarum players, from Death Korps infantry to Attilan cavalry ,*** and will turn some heads when this many egos take to the field at once.

Aerial Spotter – 2CP: Use at the start of the Shooting phase on a Basilisk or Wyvern, that unit can re-roll failed hit rolls. Handy for squeezing a bit more efficiency out of these units, and especially great if you’re also going to double shoot them with the Vigilus stratagem. However doing that does get very expensive, and unless you have an absolute ocean of CP the ceiling for that combo is a bit low for 4CP spent. Still OK, but not great. C+ Ursula was revealed mid-2022, long before the rest of the new Imperial Guard range showed up to join her. Catachan: Burn Them Out! –Re-roll the number of shots with flamers and heavy flamers. Also, units hit by these weapons don’t get the benefit of cover to their saves.Oh! I forgot you do get one other choice on each model. You can chose to give them a bed roll on the majority of the models, soooo that’s something. Regimental Doctrine – Mobilised Infantry: Infantry ignore the move/shoot penalty for heavy weapons, and add 1 to their hit rolls on the turn they disembark from a TRANSPORT.
