This is an interesting read. I'm not sure it entirely achieves what he sets out to achieve - demonstrating how the Allies Learned to Win the Second World War - because the individual stories of officers don't quite come together to support that thesis. Away from Brexit, there is no shortage of grievances for Pub Landlord to air, with mixed success. A routine on people using their phones too much is weak; much better is his idea for cheating speed cameras. The Oxford festival is the most elegant and atmospheric of literary festivals. It’s a pleasure to both attend and perform there.
