The available filter types are Butterworth and Linkwitz‑Riley, which have different crossover characteristics (for example a Linkwitz Riley will commonly be chosen for crossovers as the upper and lower signals are attenuated by 6dB at the crossover point, which results in unity magnitude, (ie. Again, the Overeasy setting controls the onset of compression, with higher preset numbers introducing a softer knee curve to give a less noticeable effect. From a practical angle, the PA2 couldn't really be easier to use — there is no on/off switch, and when the unit powers up all the output channels are muted, though this can be altered in the utility menu. I used the default setting of 12 fixed filters and, as expected, I could set a significantly higher level in the room with the AFS2 than without it.

I’ve used the older Dbx AFS224 units on monitor buses and always found them to do a great job, and my DriveRack 260 incorporates feedback suppression, which I don’t hesitate to use if the situation requires it. Yes, the DBX DriveRack PA2 allows you to save multiple presets for different venues, performances, or specific speaker setups.

Could have hoped for a little better noise performance, but for many purposes it looks like it would be good enough.As I'm using it in a living room with speakers and amps that are not on DBX's pre program list I have to develop my own starting point but that was very simple using their calibration mic. When doing output phase matching, I've used my iPhone and iPad at the same time because the phase inversion button and the alignment delay slider aren't on the same view in the app.
