Marked a 4 out of 5 in the holding stakes, the red potted shaping dough, like the clay (despite being rated slightly lower) held my man’s style for the duration. Only you will know if it’ll be the perfect present for an older Dad or Grandad, or a younger hipster riding the vintage bandwagon. You know that I spoke before about the smell of the products and without trying them, the Moosehead products conquered me. You don’t have to use a great deal of it to be effective so it’s not going to be hard on the wallet either. I was given the opportunity to test two of its hair care products; shaping dough and gritty styling clay.

My other half felt the grainy styling clay was best-suited to sticky up styles whilst the second pot he tested, MooseHead shaping dough was ideal for slicker, smoother looks.This week I have had the opportunity to try some Moosehead Wax that I received for Valentine's day from Brand Nation . The gritty styling clay comes in an orange lidded pot with five black dots, indicating maximum hold. After trying the products from MooseHead, I will definitely add them to my daily hair routine as the quality and the finish is excellent.

The company was started about 10 years ago in Melbourne, Australia when they realised that there was no real product aimed/targeted towards the 'urban guy'. I had my other half try two of the four MooseHead styling products: the Gritty Styling Clay and the Shaping Dough. The styling clay in particular has the ‘sand, sea, surf, suncream’ scent you might expect from an Australian export.

With an orange lid and a coconut smell, this wax is my favorite for the texture and definition that it provides to my hair.

Happily, there was no evidence of any ‘sediment’ and the added beeswax seemed to ensure the promised matte finish as well as strong hold. It is a smooth wax, which is perfect to spread over your fingers before applying to your hair and it does not dry out which means that you can re-work your hair for the entire day. Made with real pumice giving it a grainy texture to help create a defined, chunky look, I wondered how this would look when applied.I’ve heard that such retro fragrances are being made fashionable by those a little younger than me and my other half, in a revival of trends; I guess in the same way that I’ve worn flares despite growing up a decade or so after their first appearance. The dough is also at its best in thicker hair and is ideal for those who may need to remodel (if they’re going from work to social function or like my other half, need a quick fix after a game of hairdressers with their three-year-old daughter).

This product contains bits of grits that help to hold the hair firm, personally I haven’t seen those grits in my hair and this is great because it could look like dandruff.
